Dell Vostro 1510 released with Windows Vista and XP as default operating system. I already write an article listings all drivers you need if you want to upgrade to windows 7.  So here I list out the drivers you will need if you want to install windows 8 or 8.1 on your Vost ro 1510.

1. Chipset Drivers
Intel 900 series chipset 
Windows 8 will automatically install your chipset drivers or You can install chipset drivers by using windows automatic updates, or automatically let intel detect and choose the latest drivers for you chipset. If you want to use drivers from DELL, here is the download link, it is originally for windows XP-7, but also supported windows 8.

The latest drivers can be found on intel download page by searching for chipset version 9.4.0.1027.

2. Audio Driver
Realtek ALC268 Audio Drivers
Windows 8 will install default Generic audio driver for your Vostro 1510. You can increase the performance and stability by installing the latest Realtek Audio Drivers. You can download the drivers from dell or Realtek.

3. Card Reader
O2Micro OZH24 SD/MMC Host Controller
Windows 8 will not install this driver (base on current windows 8 version), so what you need to do is install windows XP drivers in windows 8. If it does not install, set the compatibility mode for Windows XP, Then right click and select "run as administrator" to install:

4. Touchpad
We need to install touchpad driver using the same method to install Card Reader driver which is by using windows XP drivers for windows 8.

5. Graphic Drivers
Intel 965 Graphic Drivers 
You need to run windows automatic updates for this since Intel doesn't not provide the drivers on their support page. If you prefer to download and install it manually :
Download 32-bit
Download 64-bit 
The drivers are packed in CAB format so you need to extract and install the drivers using device manager. (tutorial)

Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
The driver available on Nvidia website or you can also use windows automatic update to install it.

Installation Note:
1. Intel chipset, Intel Rapid stora ge technology and Mei driver only applicable for Satellite  with Intel processor. Model with AMD processor doesn't require chipset driver installation.

2. Officially only 64-bit driver version provided, I already check few drivers and notice the 64-bit package also contain 32-bit driver package. From my experience all drivers come with both 32 and 64-bit package except for Graphic which most of the times design for specific 32-bit or 64-bit.

3. It is strongly recommend to use 64-bit version to get maximum performance.

4. Some application and utility remove from this driver list base on low importance level. 

5. There are 3 applicable graphics drivers, choose base on your specific model. I already put a note which graphic refer to which model. If you have problem to know what is your C640 specific model number, you can check on the back sticker of your model. Note for line that start with PSC..., example PSC2UE
